After grooving to the sounds of Berlin Oriental Group and Rocky B-The Tropikal Camel until dawn we’re ready to welcome you back for this year’s second Hafla - this time as open air! SebCat from the Belgian-Dutch Rebel Up! collective together with DJ Akin Kasuk (Berlin / Istanbul) are bringing their sounds from the global underground while Halla-B mixes synth with Jewish and Arab tradition.
From the freshest and bounciest global sounds to ethnic electronic bass and digital folklore, it's all there to hear and feel with SebCat the founder of the underground radio station / DJ duo Rebel Up! Expect a mash of global sounds with straight-up old skool roots and Arabic roughness, amplified African rhythms, Balkanized mestizo and gritty electronics.
Halla-B sounds like a mix of Omar Souleyman and Kraftwerk as well as a combination of traditional Jewish music with arab sounds and i.e. The Cure. With their simulating synthesizer-based performances, they create the perfect musical scenery for a Berlin-specific Hafla. For this night Halla-B will be joined by very special guests, Avia Shoshani, Marco Crippa (Bass, Italy) and Hogir Göregen (Percussions, Turkey).
Akin Kazuk (Berlin/Istanbul) spins psychedelic Anatolian Rock as well as Turkish rarities. This DJ and film producer made himself a name with Radio Istanbul, which was presented at the last 48 Stunden Neukölln Festival as a part of the Mediterranean Frequencies installation. His sets feature songs from Baris Manco & Kurtalan Ekspress, Süheyl Denizci Orkestrası, Aziz Ahmet, Neşe Karaböcek, Gülcan Opel and other artists from the Turkish Pop-scene from the 1960s to the 1980s.
